Youth Summer Recreational/Educational Program

The Athletic Factory will be utilizing the James R. Lenard Center (Cleveland
Elementary School Gym) 2801 Vanness St. in Port Huron, to provide a recreational
safe haven for the youth in our community. In many neighborhoods, places that serve the community don’t exist anymore. A quality recreation center is a valuable asset.

The Athletic Factory believes the James R. Lenard Center is the ideal place to serve the youth in our community. We will be offering a program that would provide open gym runs for middle school and high school kids. This will be offered from June 20, 2022 to August 12, 2022, Monday through Thursday 2:30pm to 7:30pm, Fridays 1pm to 6pm, and Saturday from 12pm to 4pm. We will also offer PERFORMING ARTS on Thursdays from 5:30pm to 7:30pm.

Basketball helps our youth stay active while learning about hard work, sportsmanship, dedication, and respect for themselves and others. They also have the opportunity to interact with positive mentors and have lots of fun. Basketball can really be a confidence booster. No matter how good a kid is at the game, making a basket or just being on a winning team can really improve their confidence. This is an important aspect of childhood. A child who can build confidence will find life to be easier and be able to overcome obstacles better, as studies have shown.
